The Industrial Mathematics Program equips students with skills in modeling, simulation, and mathematical/statistical analysis for careers in industry and mathematical sciences. Graduates are ready for roles in government research, industrial research positions, community college teaching, or advanced studies in applied mathematics and statistics. Research projects often originate from industry and scientific partners, with recent work including Bayesian optimization for quantitative ELISA tests to identify bio-pathogens, robotic path planning algorithms for complex environments, and stochastic models analyzing vegetation in shifting arid climates. The program welcomes applicants from diverse technical backgrounds such as computer science, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, physics, and statistics.
