Utah State University's forestry program stands as Utah's sole nationally accredited degree by the Society of American Foresters, with USU being the state's only institution featuring a dedicated natural resources college. Forest ecosystems play vital roles in water provision, climate regulation, air purification, soil protection, recreation opportunities, and wildlife habitats. Forestry professionals cultivate, apply, and share expertise to preserve and improve these resources for current and future generations across various applications. They supervise timber, recreational, and water resource utilization while promoting ecological diversity. The curriculum equips students with essential competencies for managing both public and private forestlands. Emphasizing comprehensive education, the program covers biological, environmental, economic, governmental, and societal forestry dimensions. This interdisciplinary degree incorporates studies in biology, mathematics, chemistry, data analysis, forest ecosystems, resource assessment, hydrology, wildlife environments, dendrology, and spatial mapping technologies.
