The History major for undergraduate students offers exceptional flexibility in course selection. With just two mandatory classes (History Methods in your third year and Proseminar in your fourth year), you can customize your degree to match your personal academic passions. Our professors will collaborate with you to develop a well-rounded study plan that maximizes your educational experience at UW. The History Department actively recommends pairing your major with a minor (or even pursuing a dual degree) in a complementary discipline. Common choices are Computer Science, Economics, Geography, Political Science, and foreign language studies. In our current competitive employment landscape, developing diverse competencies is crucial - the program's adaptable structure facilitates completing additional minors or majors within the standard four-year timeframe.
