Qualification Requirements

Students with undergraduate degrees in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics or a related area are eligible for admission. Applicants should have a strong mathematical background that includes three semesters of calculus, linear algebra, probability, and mathematical statistics. Students lacking this background may be admitted provided that the deficiencies amount to no more than two courses. Although not required, having one actuarial professional exam passed would be an asset.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences encourages, but does not currently require submission of general GRE scores. GRE Mathematics subject test scores are appreciated, but also not required.
Students must apply to UWM and the Department of Mathematical Sciences by completing the online application. A key component of the application requires the applicant to provide names and e-mail addresses of three (3) individuals who have agreed to provide letters of recommendation. Submission of general GRE scores is recommended, but not required, the GRE Mathematics subject test scores are appreciated, but not required.

You must have attended this institution for at least one year and the degree was earned at an institution in the United States, and you have lived and worked continuously in the U.S since earning the degree. Cambridge English: Advanced / Cambridge English Proficiency C1 level or higher. TOEFL IBT (not Home Edition) - 79 120, IELTS - 6.5 9.0.
