Working alongside various academic departments at UW-Milwaukee, SOIS enables students to pursue dual Master's degrees simultaneously—one in Library and Information Science (MLIS) and another in a chosen discipline. Each combined degree program's MLIS portion consists of 30 credit hours from SOIS coursework. This includes 12 credits of required MLIS foundation courses, with the additional 18 credits tailored from the School's curriculum to align with each student's objectives in the dual-degree initiative

Students are admitted to both graduate programs separately, and admission requirements are consistent with those specified by the UWM Graduate School, the Women's and Gender Studies MA of the College of Letters and Science, and the Library and Information Science MLIS of the School of Information Studies.
