The Leonard E Parker Center for Gravitation, Cosmology and Astrophysics (CGCA) in the Department of Physics advances astrophysics research through innovative observational, theoretical, and computational approaches. This diverse team includes twelve senior researchers: seven faculty members (Patrick Brady, Philip Chang, Jolien Creighton, Dawn Erb, David Kaplan, Sarah Vigeland, and Alan Wiseman), two Distinguished Professors Emeriti (John Friedman and Leonard Parker), one Adjunct Professor (Bruce Allen), and one Visiting Scientist (Maria Alessandra Papa). They collaborate with research scientists, postdoctoral associates, and students at all levels. Combining specialized knowledge in gravitational physics, observational techniques, data analysis, and high-performance computing, the group tackles key questions in relativistic astrophysics, time-domain studies, gravitational-wave/multi-messenger astronomy, galaxy formation/evolution, and cosmological research.
