While overseen by UW-Milwaukee's Anthropology Department, the program accepts applications from all UW-Milwaukee graduate students. Instruction occurs off-site at the Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM), led by experienced museum practitioners. Admission to the Museum Studies certificate program mandates compliance with MPM's background check policy, prohibiting enrollment for applicants with criminal histories.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant must meet Graduate School requirements plus the following departmental requirements to be considered for admission to the program: A general master's degree in anthropology or equivalent preparation without the master's degree. An applicant with a master's degree in another field may be admitted if the student has a grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) in graduate work and is approved by the departmental Graduate Admissions Committee. Three letters of recommendation. A writing sample such as a relevant term paper, article submission, etc. Submission of scores from the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination. You must have attended this institution for at least one year and the degree was earned at an institution in the United States, and you have lived and worked continuously in the U.S since earning the degree. Cambridge English: Advanced / Cambridge English Proficiency C1 level or higher. TOEFL IBT (not Home Edition) - 79 120, IELTS - 6.5 9.0.
