The Inclusive Early Childhood Teacher Education (IECTE) Program offers a distinctive dual certification path for those pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education, combining Early Childhood Education with Early Childhood Special Education credentials. Participants can further enhance their qualifications by obtaining additional endorsements in English as a Second Language or Bilingual Education. This comprehensive licensing strategy stems from the philosophy that mastering diverse educational approaches is crucial for delivering impactful learning experiences to children from infancy through third grade. The IECTE Program aims to cultivate educators who possess both the expertise and mindset to implement fair, inclusive teaching methods that remove obstacles and ensure learning opportunities for every child. This unique teacher preparation pathway allows students to earn dual certification within four years (including one summer term) through hands-on learning and a well-structured curriculum. Participants gain practical exposure across various potential workplaces such as public and charter elementary schools, Head Start programs, early intervention centers, preschools, and other community learning environments. Designed to address both Milwaukee-area school district requirements and nationwide demands, the IECTE Program prepares educators to skillfully teach and embrace the varied backgrounds of young learners.
