Reflecting the UWM School of Education's urban focus, the special education program trains aspiring teachers to serve diverse student populations. Enrollment begins after university admission and completion of foundational coursework. The program can be finished within four years, featuring progressive, immersive experiences in urban school settings. Graduates who fulfill all student teaching obligations and pass state-mandated exams will earn their special education teaching license.
