The elementary and middle education degree equips future educators to instruct students from kindergarten through ninth grade. Through hands-on classroom training, participants gain practical experience under the guidance of skilled mentor teachers and university advisors. This program focuses on developing skills to serve diverse student populations in standard K-9 educational environments. Field experiences and student teaching primarily occur in urban schools through collaborations with area school districts.
Graduates of the Elementary and Middle Education (K-9) program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and qualify for Wisconsin state teaching certification. This license authorizes instruction across all subjects (excluding foreign languages) in self-contained classrooms, and permits teaching core subjects like English, math, science, and social studies in departmentalized settings for grades 4K-9.
