Biology fundamentally explores the science of life across humans, plants, and animals. The Biological Sciences program caters to students pursuing careers in healthcare, agriculture, environmental conservation, food production, manufacturing, biotechnology, and similar industries. Undergraduate options include a comprehensive general biology track or focused studies in cell/molecular biology or ecology. The department also offers a microbiology degree. Students gain practical research experience to strengthen their professional or academic prospects, with master's and doctoral programs available for advanced study.
UWM's biology program equips students with comprehensive knowledge in biological and natural sciences, laying the groundwork for professional careers or graduate studies. The curriculum combines mandatory coursework with hands-on lab/field research in cell biology, genetics, and ecology. Students undertake independent research initiatives and external internships, followed by specialized electives in Molecular Genetics, Neurobiology, Ecology and Evolution, Microbiology, and Aquatic Biology.
