Supply Chain and Operations Management (SCOM) explores essential business workflows for planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and delivering products or services to consumers. The 'SC' component in the curriculum centers on material supply, warehousing, and product distribution. The 'OM' aspect concentrates on optimizing personnel, equipment, and other assets for maximum productivity.

Contrary to common assumptions, a Supply Chain management degree extends far beyond manufacturing. Industries like services, healthcare, and retail extensively apply supply chain principles to reduce expenses, boost operational performance, and elevate customer experiences. Technology plays a pivotal role in modern supply chains, with the Lubar program highlighting IT systems like enterprise resource planning. Additional key elements comprise innovation in product design, streamlined processes, Six Sigma methodologies, and tailored production solutions.
