Physics serves as the essential basis for scientific and technological advancement. Numerous undergraduate programs mandate at least one physics course. UWM's physics major offers a diverse curriculum encompassing both classical and quantum physics through various physics and astronomy classes. Alongside grasping core physical concepts, students cultivate valuable analytical and modeling abilities highly sought after in today's job market.
Annually, approximately 50% of physics graduates nationwide join the workforce while the other half pursue advanced degrees. Private sector employment spans manufacturing and service industries, with roles in R&D, technical support, software development, financial analysis, and marketing. Government-employed physics graduates primarily engage in research, development, and design work, though a considerable portion also enlist in military service each year.
