Epidemiology of physical activity examines how often and in what ways people engage in physical movement across populations, along with its connections to health and illness. The Physical Activity Epidemiology specialization offers graduate students in-depth exploration of measuring physical activity, research methodologies, links between exercise and particular health conditions, and strategies for encouraging active lifestyles. This graduate program includes epidemiology and statistics coursework for understanding population-level research design and data interpretation, plus electives focusing on physical activity's role in public health. The Kinesiology MS program's Physical Activity Epidemiology track aims to: 1) familiarize new graduate students with population-level research on physical activity's relationship to health outcomes, and 2) equip students for doctoral-level studies.
