The creative writing program provides a two-year Master of Fine Arts degree specializing in fiction and poetry. This intimate MFA program operates within a thriving literary community, accepting just six new students annually.

Unique among its peers, the program employs an alternating genre admission system. Fiction applicants are considered in even years, while poetry candidates are reviewed in odd years. This rotation ensures a favorable 2-to-1 student-faculty ratio and enables instructors to dedicate their full attention to either fiction writers or poets throughout the two-year curriculum.
