The Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies (LACIS) Program provides three advanced degree options: a Master of Arts, a Doctoral Minor, and a combined Law/LACIS Dual Degree.
Our graduate program aims to deliver interdisciplinary training focused on Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal. Recognized nationally for its academic excellence, the University of Wisconsin-Madison boasts over 100 core faculty members in the LACIS program, with courses spanning nearly 40 fields. These include anthropology, business, environmental sociology, literature, environmental studies, gender studies, geography, history, law, music, political science, sociology, and public health. Language instruction covers Quechua, Yucatec Maya, Spanish, and Portuguese.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
