The doctoral program encompasses literature, folklore, and philology. Admission prerequisites align with those for the Master's degree in Scandinavian Studies, specializing in literature, regional studies, or philology as applicable. New graduate students must meet with the primary graduate advisor upon enrollment at UW-Madison. During this consultation, they'll review the student's academic objectives and professional aspirations to determine the most suitable faculty member to serve as committee chair.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
