Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies (ITS) brings together faculty from across the university who specialize in drama, theatre, and performance studies. This collaborative group provides a multidisciplinary academic path for students pursuing MA, PhD, and doctoral minor degrees. With over twenty faculty members representing numerous departments, ITS enables students to build a foundation in theatre history, dramatic literature, and performance theory while fostering original scholarship that reflects the expansive nature of theatre and performance studies.

The ITS Program equips PhD candidates to undertake groundbreaking, cross-disciplinary research in theatre through academic investigation, practice-based research, and valuable teaching opportunities. By combining rigorous academic study with hands-on experience in diverse theatrical forms, the program prepares graduates for careers as university scholars, educators, public thinkers, and scholar-practitioners. Those with experience in children's and youth theatre may pursue a specialized focus in theatre for young audiences.
