Boasting approximately 130 graduate students and around 60 faculty members, the History Department hosts one of America's oldest, most prestigious, and wide-ranging graduate programs, celebrated for its enduring tradition of collaboration and inclusivity. We provide distinct graduate degrees in both History and the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology. Since 1893, our globally acclaimed faculty has guided generations of exceptional historians.
Our History degree program primarily caters to PhD candidates, with financial support exclusively available for doctoral students. That said, we gladly consider applications from master's degree seekers who have external sponsorship or personal funding. The graduate curriculum in History is structured around core academic disciplines.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
