The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences provides one of the nation's most extensive graduate programs in this field. Faculty research spans a wide spectrum, from fundamental biological investigations using in vivo and in vitro approaches to applying bioinformatics and data analysis for biological research and creating dairy farm management tools. These diverse research areas share a common goal: tackling real-world challenges in animal agriculture.
Our graduate student body includes both Wisconsin residents, out-of-state students, and international scholars from various nations. This blend of perspectives enriches our research, teaching, outreach, and cultural exchange. Alumni pursue careers in academia, veterinary/medical schools, food/feed industry research, government/international lab programs, corporate research, and scientific leadership roles across multiple sectors.
