Students pursuing agricultural and applied economics (AAE) gain expertise in economic theory and its practical implementation to address contemporary issues and policy discussions. This program prepares learners to examine economic influences across diverse areas such as environmental sustainability, climate and energy concerns, international commerce, corporate finance, poverty alleviation, regional growth strategies, biotechnological advancements, and food production networks.
The AAE curriculum requires foundational coursework in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistical analysis, and mathematics, followed by specialization in one of four focus areas: environmental economics, development economics, business economics, or general applied economics.
The program emphasizes hands-on application of classroom knowledge through research initiatives, self-directed studies, and faculty-mentored internships. In their culminating year, students participate in a capstone experience, collaborating on extended group projects while engaging with program graduates.
