UWL's Recreation Management program stands as Wisconsin's sole nationally-accredited program in this field and ranks among the largest undergraduate programs nationwide. Through hands-on internships and community involvement integrated into their studies, students build real-world experience and professional connections.
The curriculum equips Recreation Management majors with essential skills for designing, organizing, and implementing recreational activities - from sports and arts to outdoor adventures. Graduates collaborate with diverse populations across various settings, including municipal recreation departments, community centers, and travel destinations.
With four specialized tracks (generalist, tourism/event management, community recreation, and outdoor recreation), the program enables students to focus on their preferred career paths.
The program prepares graduates for supervisory roles in diverse organizations including travel companies, public recreation agencies, youth organizations, nature centers, and similar institutions.
