UWL's Recreation Management program stands as Wisconsin's sole nationally-accredited program in this field and ranks among the biggest undergraduate programs nationwide. Through hands-on internships and community-focused coursework, students build real-world experience while connecting with industry professionals.
The program equips students with essential skills for designing, organizing, and implementing recreational activities - from sports and arts to outdoor adventures. Graduates work across diverse settings including municipal parks departments, community centers, and travel destinations, serving populations from all walks of life.
With four specialized tracks (general studies, tourism/event planning, community recreation, and outdoor pursuits), the program lets students tailor their education to specific career aspirations.
The curriculum prepares graduates for supervisory roles in various organizations including travel companies, public recreation agencies, youth centers, nature education facilities, and similar institutions.
Applicant must have completion of secondary or post-secondary from institution.
English Language Proficiency
Applicant must have TOEFL score of 73 with IELTS score of 6.0 and PTE score of 54. In addition completion of ELS level 112 and completion of WESLI level 700 is required.
Priority application deadlines are 15 December for the January/Spring semester and 15 July for the September/Fall semester.
