Public and policy history focuses on making historical research accessible beyond academic circles. Unlike traditional historians who examine various eras, cultures, and subjects, public and policy historians aim to share their findings with wider audiences while also analyzing how history connects with society. This field encompasses museums, memorials, oral histories, landmarks, educational programs, and cultural organizations. Policy history specifically examines past governance and decision-making processes, targeting current policymakers in legislatures, courts, correctional facilities, and governmental agencies dealing with social or environmental matters.
