Geographers explore the connections between people and their surroundings.
For those seeking to develop expertise in tackling critical environmental and social challenges like climate change, disaster response, demographic shifts, and global interconnectedness, geography could be an ideal discipline.
At UW-La Crosse's Geography Program, students acquire hands-on training with cutting-edge tools to address environmental challenges. They utilize industry-standard GIS platforms, unmanned aerial vehicles, and advanced field instruments. Collaborative learning between faculty and students focuses on analyzing historical and current environmental and social patterns while creating approaches for a more adaptable and eco-conscious tomorrow. The curriculum has brought students both into nearby neighborhoods and across continents - examining everything from pollution in regional marshlands to glacial retreat effects in the Himalayan mountains.
