A clinical laboratory scientist, known alternatively as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist, plays a crucial and highly sought-after role in healthcare. These specialists conduct analyses on patient specimens to identify diseases, assess their progression, and evaluate treatment efficacy.
The Clinical Laboratory Science program at UWL boasts an outstanding achievement record. Over the last three years, every graduate has successfully passed the national certification exam, and all entering the field secured employment.
Whether referred to as medical technologists, medical laboratory scientists, or clinical laboratory scientists, these professionals share the same core responsibilities. They scrutinize bodily fluids, tissues, and cellular samples, identifying pathogens and microorganisms, measuring chemical compositions, determining blood compatibility for transfusions, and monitoring patient treatment responses through diagnostic testing.
Prior to admission to the clinical laboratory science program, students must satisfactorily complete prerequisite course work.
Applicant must have completion of secondary or post-secondary from institution.
English Language Proficiency
Applicant must have TOEFL score of 73 with IELTS score of 6.0 and PTE score of 54. In addition completion of ELS level 112 and completion of WESLI level 700 is required.
Priority application deadlines are 15 December for the January/Spring semester and 15 July for the September/Fall semester.
