The UW-La Crosse chemistry program with a business focus offers an interdisciplinary route for students passionate about both scientific inquiry and corporate operations. The curriculum combines essential chemical principles and hands-on lab training through courses in general, organic, analytical, and physical chemistry. These scientific foundations are enhanced with business coursework in management, accounting, finance, and marketing from the College of Business Administration. Graduates with this dual focus gain distinctive qualifications for roles bridging scientific research teams with commercial functions like sales, marketing, or strategic planning.
Chemistry explores the nature of matter, examining substances, their characteristics, energy dynamics, interactions, and transformations. The discipline is traditionally divided into five principal branches: Organic, Analytical, Physical, Inorganic, and Biochemistry, along with numerous specialized applied fields. Frequently called the central science, chemistry serves as a bridge connecting physics and mathematics with life sciences, medical research, and earth/environmental studies.
