Geographers examine the connections between people and their surroundings.
For those seeking to develop expertise in tackling critical environmental and social challenges like climate change, disaster response, demographic shifts, and global interconnectedness, geography could be an ideal discipline.
At UW-La Crosse's Geography Program, learners acquire hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies to address environmental challenges. They utilize industry-standard Geographic Information System (GIS) tools, unmanned aerial vehicles, and advanced field instruments. Collaborative efforts between students and faculty explore historical and contemporary environmental and social dynamics while formulating approaches for creating a more adaptable and eco-conscious tomorrow. The curriculum has brought participants into regional communities and across the globe - from analyzing pollution in nearby marshlands to assessing climate effects in Himalayan regions.
