The Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP) is a rigorous one-year Master's in Teaching degree that provides certification for secondary education in subjects like math, science, social studies, English, or world languages. Our program equips graduates to empower and guide middle and high school students from diverse backgrounds through an educational equity framework.
STEP offers personalized guidance from experienced educators and hands-on classroom experience. This group-based program commences in spring quarter and culminates with immersive student teaching during late winter, perfectly timed with school hiring cycles. Many participants secure substitute teaching positions in spring or pursue supplementary certifications in ELL instruction and Computer Science Education.
