The Master of Public Health (MPH) program equips students with comprehensive academic training, hands-on practice, and interdisciplinary learning to tackle modern public health issues. Starting in the 2020-2021 academic year, the MPH curriculum will feature six foundational courses completed collectively by all first-year students. Additionally, students will take specialized courses aligned with their chosen focus areas. The core curriculum emphasizes ethical considerations, health equity, global and community perspectives, effective communication, systems analysis, leadership development, and translating evidence into action.
The Global Health MPH concentration adopts a social justice framework, examining how socioeconomic and political factors influence health outcomes while exploring historical and contemporary global health initiatives. Foundational coursework builds expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, international health systems, environmental health, and behavioral sciences. Students also complete research methodology and management courses. The program includes practical training through internships with domestic or global health organizations, culminating in an original research or applied thesis. This interdisciplinary program draws faculty and courses from diverse fields including natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Instruction frequently incorporates case-based learning and student-driven discussions, fostering a collaborative educational experience.
