The Master of Jurisprudence (M.J.) program caters to professionals without legal backgrounds who wish to gain comprehensive legal knowledge to address workplace legal challenges. Those pursuing careers with legal aspects will develop practical, valuable legal expertise that strengthens their professional credentials across various fields. With just four requirements—three core courses plus a significant research project—students can tailor their academic journey. Our M.J. faculty collaborates individually with each student to design a personalized curriculum. Students may also enroll in pertinent courses from other university departments. Working professionals can maintain work-life balance through part-time enrollment and flexible morning/evening class schedules while engaging with the law school community. The program offers hands-on learning opportunities, enabling students to complete externships with innovative local businesses or nonprofit organizations.
M.J. students focusing on health law benefit from the law school's extensive health law curriculum and the university's renowned health sciences programs, including Public Health, Pharmacy, and Global Health departments. Our Health Law track delivers focused legal training covering all health law areas: private healthcare systems, provider/researcher regulations, medical malpractice, patient rights, public health policy, and global health equity issues.
