This two-year master's program equips students for specialized roles in Cinema and Media Studies or teaching positions across various educational levels. Graduates will gain:

) a cross-disciplinary grasp of the field through a humanities lens,
) insight into how their academic work connects with societal contexts,
) fundamental proficiency in at least one foreign language,
) skills to evaluate teaching methodologies within the discipline.
The Cinema and Media Studies faculty specialize in diverse areas including global film traditions, early cinema, documentary filmmaking, Asian cinema studies, media technologies, television analysis, digital media, and emerging platforms.
The department boasts notable expertise in South Asian studies, with faculty recognized for their work in: classical Sanskrit texts, ancient Indian languages, religious studies, Buddhist scholarship, historical inscriptions, writing system evolution, Hindi linguistics, medieval devotional traditions, mythological comparisons, saint narratives, and the depiction of deities throughout South Asia's history. The Asian Languages Department hosts the renowned Early Buddhist Manuscript Project - a collaborative initiative with the British Library that has gained global recognition for deciphering the earliest Buddhist scriptures.

A degree in Film Studies, Media Studies or related field; applicants recommended to have competence in one foreign language at the time of application; minimum 3.0 gpa required for the last two years of study.
