The Master of Applied Bioengineering (MAB) is a full-time professional master's program spanning one year (from mid-August/early start through August of the subsequent year). This program equips students to utilize engineering design principles in tackling current clinical issues while meeting the commercial needs of the biotech sector and healthcare field. Participants work alongside distinguished faculty from UW and UW Medicine, as well as regional industry collaborators, to convert biomedical discoveries into practical solutions that enhance patient outcomes. Alumni emerge with sought-after expertise for careers in biomedical enterprises and translational research.
A B.S. or higher in an engineering, biological, physical or applied scientific disciplines, strong academic performance, and academic background aligned with one of our technical concentration areas. The recommended background for each area is listed in the application.
English Proficiency:
The Graduate School is temporarily accepting official test scores for both the Duolingo English Test and the TOEFL ITP Plus For China to assist international students with remote testing options. This policy is currently in effect through the autumn 2021 admission cycle (i.e., students enrolling in autumn 2021).
TOEFL iBT - Minimum Required Score (ELP Required): 80; Recommended Score (ELP Satisfied): 92 or higher
TOEFL pBT - Minimum Required Score: 500
Duolingo: Minimum Required Score (ELP Required): 105; Recommended Score (ELP Satisfied): 120 or higher
IELTS: Minimum Required Score 6.5
