The University of Washington Graduate School provides an interdisciplinary Individual Ph.D. (IPhD) Program designed for highly capable students pursuing cross-disciplinary research that necessitates mentorship from faculty across multiple UW doctoral programs. Participants craft a personalized academic plan with support from their interdisciplinary Supervisory Committee. Oversight of this program falls under the IPhD Program Coordinator, with leadership from the Graduate School Dean. The program requires completion of 90 credits, including a minimum of 60 credits earned at the University of Washington. An approved Master's degree from an accredited institution may count toward 30 credits, subject to approval by the degree-granting department.
