The University of Washington's Statistics PhD program seeks motivated, talented students aiming for research-focused careers in both theoretical and applied Statistics and Probability. UW's Statistics Department provides resources for experimental design, data modeling and analysis to address scientific inquiries, and visualizing intricate patterns. Undergraduate students have participated in research areas like data mining, spatial statistics, math education, and data visualization. Beyond its standalone major and minor programs, the Department contributes to the Applied and Computational Mathematical Sciences (ACMS) interdisciplinary major. Collaborative graduate study opportunities in Statistical Genetics are available through partnerships between UW's Statistics and Biostatistics Departments, along with Genome Sciences, Biology, and Medicine faculty. The department also maintains strong ties with the Computational Molecular Biology interdisciplinary program.
