Doctoral education in Digital Arts and Experimental Media centers on enabling artists to uncover and record groundbreaking knowledge at the highest academic levels. At its core, the program prioritizes the development of original artistic works. The DXARTS Ph.D. blends creative exploration with rigorous research, demanding dedicated graduate-level engagement and thoughtful analysis. This degree equips artists to conduct pioneering creative and technical investigations in Digital Arts and Experimental Media, establishing foundational advancements for future generations of artists and researchers.
To qualify for application to the program applicants should have completed a Master's Degree or its equivalent in a discipline or field related to the proposed doctoral work. In addition to a portfolio of their artistic work, applicants must submit as Statement of Purpose a substantial and detailed digital, experimental arts project proposal.
English Proficiency:
The Graduate School is temporarily accepting official test scores for both the Duolingo English Test and the TOEFL ITP Plus For China to assist international students with remote testing options. This policy is currently in effect through the autumn 2021 admission cycle (i.e., students enrolling in autumn 2021).
TOEFL iBT - Minimum Required Score (ELP Required): 80; Recommended Score (ELP Satisfied): 92 or higher
TOEFL pBT - Minimum Required Score: 500
Duolingo: Minimum Required Score (ELP Required): 105; Recommended Score (ELP Satisfied): 120 or higher
IELTS: Minimum Required Score 6.5
