The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (BS) offers students an intensive program centered on studying matter at the atomic and molecular level. This degree covers core chemistry fields (organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical) along with contemporary interdisciplinary subjects like biochemistry, computational chemistry, atmospheric chemistry, and electro-analytical chemistry. Everything in existence consists of atoms and molecules. At UW Bothell, chemistry students investigate these fundamental building blocks to comprehend life, the cosmos, environmental effects, and ways to improve our world. We also enjoy creating liquid nitrogen ice cream as part of our experiments.
Develop proficiency in scientific methodology and contemporary molecular theories across core chemistry fields (organic, analytical, physical, inorganic, and biochemical). (Knowledge foundation). Employ various techniques to address qualitative and quantitative challenges across chemistry disciplines. (Analytical skills). Convey chemical concepts effectively through multiple formats (verbal, written, and mathematical) using proper terminology for both technical and general audiences. (Communication skills). Acquire comprehensive laboratory competencies, including proper safety protocols, data interpretation, theoretical applications, and operation of modern equipment. (Practical training)
