The Russian language, culture, and political landscape hold significant influence extending far beyond Central and Eastern Europe, shaping global affairs. Students enrolled in the B.A. program for Russian Language, Literature, and Culture begin with rigorous language training before exploring various cultural disciplines such as Russian art, film, literary works, and historical developments. This immersive academic journey fosters meaningful connections with distinguished professors and emphasizes practical learning, equipping students with profound understanding of Russia and its inhabitants.
In addition to coursework, students gain advantages from our department's strong partnerships with the Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies within the Jackson School of International Studies, along with connections to regional Slavic groups. They can further enhance their education through study abroad programs, conversational practice at Russian Table gatherings, or by engaging with our department's numerous academic and cultural events.

Regardless of whether you are applying as a U.S. or international student, if you have attended a school outside of the U.S. that follows a national compulsory curriculum, you are required to upload a scanned, unofficial copy of your transcript for grade levels 9 and higher in the Upload section of the UW questions portion of your online application. TOEFL (iBT) - 76, IELTS - 6.0.
