History students develop skills in collecting data from original and secondary materials, evaluating and interpreting this information to pinpoint key elements, drawing insights, and creating polished written accounts and verbal reports about their findings. The study of history examines bygone eras to gain clearer perspectives on current times. Learners will acquire techniques for assessing source materials to recognize important patterns and developments, form judgments, and generate quality written and spoken content on specific topics. The History BA program offers four specialized tracks: Arts, Culture, and Society; Global History; Labor and Social Movements; and Power, Gender, and Identity. Students may also choose a general history path, completing 30 additional THIST course credits (with at least 25 upper-level units).
