Our bachelor's degree provides extensive training in French language, literature, and cultural studies. Through our structured curriculum spanning introductory to advanced levels (100-300 series), you'll enhance both spoken and written proficiency while exploring diverse Francophone societies globally. The program prioritizes practical communication abilities, preparing you for potential international study opportunities. Students can enroll in our acclaimed Paris and Nantes exchange programs at any stage, earning academic credits toward graduation.
Advanced coursework examines French literary traditions from medieval to contemporary periods through comprehensive surveys and specialized seminars. Expert faculty guide students through significant texts while illuminating their historical and cultural backgrounds. The curriculum also highlights vibrant Francophone writings from areas including the Caribbean, North Africa, Canada, and Guadeloupe. Beyond academics, we invite participation in departmental activities like guest speaker series, French conversation circles, study abroad photography competitions, and our yearly commencement celebration.
Student must have a High School Qualification.
Due to limited testing availability from COVID-19, the UW will accept the Duolingo’s English Test for autumn 2021 applicants. A minimum score of 105 will be required for admission. The TOEFL iBT special home edition and the IELTS Indicator at home exam will also be accepted for 2021 international freshman applicants.
