The B.A. in Asian Languages and Cultures allows students to customize their major within Asian Languages and Literature according to their personal interests and career objectives. Students can choose to focus more on language studies or explore diverse non-language courses, spanning topics from ancient Sanskrit epics to contemporary Korean pop culture. This adaptability makes the degree exceptionally versatile, enabling students to pair it with another Asian language study, pre-professional coursework, or complementary academic fields. Graduates emerge as multilingual professionals with sought-after skills, gaining competitive edges in global business, nonprofit sectors, STEM industries, graduate schools, and beyond.

To complete the degree requirements, students must complete two years of study in one of these languages: Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Sanskrit, Urdu, or Vietnamese. Since most beginner language courses are offered exclusively in the fall semester, students are encouraged to enroll in introductory classes early to meet the major's language prerequisite.
