Equipping students to become advanced practice nurses and nurse practitioners specializing in primary and preventive healthcare settings. With the U.S. healthcare system increasingly focusing on wellness instead of disease treatment, family nurse practitioners (FNPs) play a vital and growing role in primary care. Our curriculum focuses on delivering community-centered primary healthcare for people and families throughout all life stages. Expanding upon the foundational knowledge and clinical expertise of BSN-educated nurses, the FNP program trains students to deliver comprehensive care that emphasizes health education and service coordination. Key competencies include diagnosing acute conditions, managing both acute and chronic health issues through interdisciplinary collaboration, understanding community health requirements and available wellness resources, providing patient and family education about disease prevention, and promoting overall health maintenance and management.
