Virginia's LL.M. program offers a one-year, full-time master of laws degree completed on campus over two semesters. Rather than following a fixed curriculum, the program allows LL.M. students to tailor their legal studies to their individual interests. Participants must enroll in at least 12 credit hours each semester and complete a minimum of 24 credit hours to graduate. LL.M. candidates have access to nearly all courses available at Virginia Law. To qualify, applicants must hold their nation's equivalent of a first professional law degree (comparable to a U.S. Juris Doctor). LSAC provides a country-specific chart outlining minimum degree prerequisites for program admission. If your degree or country isn't listed, please reach out to the Graduate Studies Office to determine your eligibility based on your legal background. The chart represents baseline requirements only; applicants should disclose all postsecondary education, including any academic work undertaken before or after obtaining the listed minimum degree.
