The Master of Education in Kinesiology offers a distinctive combination of classroom learning, hands-on fieldwork, and diverse research experiences. Specializations available in Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology for Individuals with Disabilities. Available as either full-time or part-time study, this Charlottesville-based program requires completion of 36 credit hours, including practical teaching experience with disabled students. Graduates must successfully complete a comprehensive assessment - either the Adapted Physical Education National Standards (APENS) Exam for national certification or an alternative evaluation.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree in physical education, kinesiology, exercise science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, and meet admission standards outlined in the School of Education and Human Development's Admission Policies. Preference is given to students who are licensed to teach physical education.
An academic writing sample is required as part of the application. The writing sample must be a paper submitted to an academic class and should be a minimum of 3 pages long (preferably longer). This paper should be submitted along with the online application.

IELTS: 7.0
IBT TOEFL: at least 22 in writing, 22 in speaking, 23 in reading, and 23 in listening for a total score of 90.
