The University of Virginia's Physics graduate program focuses on equipping Ph.D. candidates for research and academic careers in Physics. UVa boasts dynamic research teams specializing in various fields: particle physics at high energies, nuclear physics, quantum information within atomic/molecular/optical physics, condensed matter physics (including soft condensed matter and biophysics), gravitational studies, general relativity, cosmology, and medical physics. Currently, the Physics graduate program enrolls about 85 students, supported by 40 faculty members, 12 emeritus professors, over 20 postdoctoral researchers and scientists, along with visiting scholars and dedicated technical staff.
