The Computer Engineering Program provides a Ph.D. degree centered around a dissertation that presents original, publication-worthy research (guided by a faculty advisor) with substantial depth. Candidates should refer to the School of Engineering and Applied Science's Academic Rules in the Record for institution-wide degree prerequisites that supplement the Computer Engineering Graduate Program's specific requirements.
Earning a Ph.D. necessitates completing a minimum of 24 credit hours of graded coursework. Students obtaining a master's degree during their studies must complete an additional 9 graded credit hours of graduate-level courses. Degree candidates must fulfill specific course distribution requirements, encompassing architecture/design courses, Computer Science courses, and Electrical and Computer Engineering courses (detailed in the Curriculum Distribution Requirements). All courses satisfying these requirements demand a minimum grade of A- for Ph.D. students.
