The Severe Disabilities program equips future educators to take on leadership roles in schools, focusing on students with significant (low incidence) disabilities from kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as young adults up to age 22. This specialized track trains educators to support learners requiring highly structured, personalized teaching approaches. Participants will develop skills in creating tailored learning plans, delivering adaptable lessons, maintaining productive classroom environments, addressing individual behavioral needs, and applying research-backed, data-informed teaching methods. The curriculum combines academic learning with hands-on practice, allowing students to apply special education techniques in real classroom settings.
