The Industrial Hygiene Hazardous Substance Academic Training (IH-HSAT) program equips industrial hygienists with skills for hazardous material response and site cleanup, as permitted under the 1986 Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA). Program graduates contribute to improving both workplace and community health. The MSOH degree with IH-HSAT focus at RMCOEH follows a curriculum similar to the standard Industrial Hygiene program. Beyond fundamental industrial hygiene coursework, HSAT participants learn about quantitative risk evaluation and hazardous material handling. Those who pass the hazardous substances course earn an OSHA 40-hour certification for hazardous waste operations and emergency response.
