Computer Engineering integrates principles from both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Professionals in this field work on designing and analyzing computer systems across various scales, from microelectronic circuits to processor architectures and programming interfaces. The School of Computing offers S and PhD degrees through two distinct programs: Computer Science and Computing.
The Computing program features specialized tracks for focused study, while the Computer Science program emphasizes theoretical foundations, systems, and hardware while allowing considerable course flexibility. Unlike the Computing program, Computer Science does not have specialized tracks. Most programs and tracks, with the exception of Secure Computing, are open to both MS and PhD candidates. The Secure Computing Track is exclusively available to MS students.
