Focusing on instrumental, choral, or music education specialties with extensive faculty guidance, classroom instruction, and practical school-based training, graduates emerge ready to begin careers as professional music educators. Offering programs at bachelor's, master's, and PhD levels, the music education department aims to develop future educators of exceptional quality through a robust curriculum grounded in contemporary research, continuous faculty support, and immersive school-based learning opportunities. Students pursuing undergraduate degrees in music education select concentrations in instrumental, choral, or general music. Based on their chosen instrument or vocal focus, they refine their craft through participation in the School of Music's diverse performance groups, including over 20 choirs, orchestras, bands, and ensembles. Undergraduates grow as educators through specialized coursework and one-on-one mentorship while building teaching competencies via early and extensive classroom practicum experiences.
